Vanessa-Lynn says .... I have been partially permanently disabled since 1996 following being a victim of an accident, where I was a passenger and our vehicle was quickly impacted by a six seater taxi travelling behind us. Two months later, I became paralyzed for about six months, it was a true trial to overcome this which I did. I was missing out on so many activities like working, travelling, walking and running and exercising. People in our situation do not need extra pressure to kill what emotions we do have left about ourselves when it comes to dealing with our disabilities; realizing we will never have those experiences. Thank you.
Phillip says .... I have been suffering with Cerebral palsy now since the age of three years old; so basically, it is very fair to say I've been challenged with this disability, all my life. There have been so many challeneges through my upbringing, and in addition to this, there have been some people that have been making fun of me because of the way I walk and dress. Please, I ask you, to research this unfortunate setback before you decide to make fun of me and others that may suffer the same thing or something very similar that has causesd them to become disabled or handicapped. Our brains work just fine, employment of some sort would be a great assist in the inclusion of this entire support system. Maybe, we can all experience what it would be like to be treated as a normal human being. Thank you!

Disability/Advocacy & Business Consultant
My journey as a mother to a special needs adult and a member of the (invisibly) disabled community due to chronic illness has fueled my passion for advocating for the rights of individuals with disabilities from a unique perspective. Through my philanthropic career, I am Chair of the Disability Advisory Council and Special Olympics Bermuda, Director of Inspire Bermuda and consultant to various disability-related organizations.
As the owner of niche business consultancy and virtual administration companies, I have further opportunities to support individuals with disabilities meaningfully and engage with employers about the significance of fostering inclusive and accommodating environments for our highly capable population.
Although we have made progress for individuals with disabilities, I believe there is still much work to be done to achieve a truly inclusive and accepting community. However, as I emphasize in my personal mantra, small intentional changes can and will create a significant impact.

ADVOCACY, DIVERSITY, EQUALITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION A DAILY THOUGHT AND ACTION UNTIL THESE WORDS, AS CONCEPTS, ARE NO LONGER REQUIRED.”
